The Center for European Studies and the Center for American Studies invite you to participate in the 3rd International Scientific Conference entitled "Cultural Property, Historical Identity, National Heritage - Interdisciplinary Approach".
WHEN?
The conference will be held on Friday, October 24, 2025 between 4:30 p.m. and 8:30 p.m. online on the Microsoft Teams platform.
The length of the conference depends on the number of speakers.
In the event of a high number of applications, we reserve the right to extend the Congress to Saturday, October 25, 2025.
WHAT IS THE CONFERENCE ABOUT?
The conference aims to discuss issues related to broadly understood national and historical identity and cultural property and heritage.
Thanks to the interdisciplinary approach to the discussed issues, the conference will address a number of issues from the humanities and social sciences (cultural studies, law, history, sociology, art, philosophy, international relations, linguistics and others).
We will discuss in order to find theoretical and practical solutions that will contribute to the protection and promotion of the cultural and historical heritage of selected countries and societies (Poland, Europe and the rest of the world).
SUGGESTED (EXAMPLE) TOPIC AREAS
• Pride of origin and approaches to patriotism
• Protection and promotion of the cultural heritage of selected societies, nations and ethnic groups (e.g. Jews, Aborigines, Silesians, Tibetans) in the era of globalization
• Nationalism and patriotism – differences and threats in the context of historical and current political events
• National and international law on the protection of cultural assets – selected problems
• The role of cultural institutions in the protection of cultural and national assets
• Historical heritage from a tourist perspective as a factor of regional development
• Globalization and regionalization – which direction to take?
• Marketization vs. nationalization of culture, or economic models of protecting cultural heritage. • Popular culture as an element of cultural heritage
• Contemporary challenges related to the protection and promotion of the cultural heritage of selected societies, nations and ethnic groups
• Accepting one's own history in the context of international politics
• Interdisciplinary dimension of research on cultural and historical heritage
The above-mentioned thematic areas are only examples - we strongly encourage you to go beyond them.
Presentations may also be interdisciplinary in nature, combining various fields of science.
Presentations may also concern only one of the selected fields.
We believe in the freedom of academic discussion and do not censor presentations for ideological or political reasons.
Original and unconventional presentations will always be appreciated by the Scientific Committee.

• We cordially invite students and PhD students, experienced researchers, as well as all other people interested in the conference topics to actively participate in the conference.
• Passive participation does not require any scientific qualifications.

Presentations can be given in the following languages:

The panels (sessions) within the conference will be arranged according to the above-mentioned languages.
